Bill Black

Bill Black was named one of approximately 30 art educators nationwide chosen for the 2025–2026 fellowship with the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes.

On October 9, 2025, the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes announced the selection of Omak High School art teacher Bill Black as one of only about 30 art educators nationwide who were chosen for the 2025–2026 ARTEFFECT Ambassadors program.

The ARTEFFECT Ambassadors program brings together innovative art educators from across the United States who use visual art to tell powerful stories of Unsung Heroes—individuals who made a significant impact on history but have not received widespread recognition. Ambassadors collaborate through workshops, mentorship, and classroom projects that connect creativity, character education, and civic engagement.

“I’m honored to be part of this year’s ARTEFFECT Ambassadors cohort,” said Bill Black. “Art is such a meaningful storytelling tool—it gives students a way to connect personally to the lives and values of these Unsung Heroes and to see how those same qualities can shape their own communities.”

“The ARTEFFECT Ambassadors program allows teachers to share ideas and learn new ways to bring storytelling, history, and art together,” Black added. “I’m excited to collaborate with other educators and continue growing as both an artist and teacher.”

The ARTEFFECT Ambassadors program runs from October 2025 through June 2026, with virtual learning modules and a culminating capstone project. More information about the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes and its programs can be found at www.lowellmilkencenter.org.
