K-2 students at North Elementary completed a worksheet in the computer lab titled, "If I Had A Robot". They got to use their imaginations to decide what job or jobs their robot would do for them, what materials it might be made out of, how it moves, and illustrate a picture of their robot.

This kindergarten student has a very detailed illustration of his robots job, taking him to the beach.
This 1st grade student, and many other students, would have her robot clean her room.
One job this 2nd grade student would like her robot to do is to buy her little kittens.
There are so many creative ideas from students about what jobs their robots would do for them on the worksheets.
K-2 students at North Elementary got to start off learning about robotics by operating a Mega Cyborg Hand in the computer lab. We discussed different jobs robots could do for us, what materials they could be made out of, and what makes them operate. The Mega Cyborg Hand was purchased from Amazon for around $30 and adult assistance for assembly is recommended.

A 2nd grade student uses the Mega Cyborg Hand to pick up a toy squirrel.
A Kindergarten student is carefully using the thumb and index finger of the Mega Cyborg Hand to gently grip the toy squirrel.
Another student at North uses the Mega Cyborg Hand to pick up a red cup. She pretended to drink from the cup and made us laugh.
A North Elementary student shows his skills by using the Mega Cyborg Hand to put the toy squirrel in the cup and pick the cup up with the squirrel in it.
A Kindergarten student looks excited as she uses the Mega Cyborg Hand for her first time.
Kindergarten students at North Elementary are learning about the life cycle of butterflies by getting to watch the transformation happen in their classroom.

Kindergarten students got to help release the butterflies after watching their growth process.
Students share in the experience of the butterfly release. Ask them what a chrysalis is, I bet they know.
Lucky Ms. Laura got to help the last butterfly out of the enclosure.
A butterfly perched on a finger about to fly away.

Update: Law enforcement has completed its investigation, and the reported threat to the high school is not considered credible. The school will exit lockdown and resume normal operations at 11:15 a.m. Law enforcement personnel will remain on campus for the rest of the day as a precaution. Parents who wish to pick up their students may do so after that time.
