School bus drivers' training got a little more intense than usual
We simulated a “bus full of smoke” scenario to prepare drivers and staff for emergency situations. While it may look alarming, this hands-on training is critical to ensuring everyone knows exactly what to do if the unexpected happens.
From quick decision-making to safe evacuation procedures, our team stepped up and handled it like pros. Safety is always our top priority, and practices like this help protect what matters most, our students.
Huge thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this training a success!

Celebrating Excellence in Omak & Okanogan County!
We are proud to recognize exceptional individuals who represent the very best of both Okanogan County and the Omak School District.
This year, we are especially honored to celebrate our district’s Excellence Award winners:
Classified Excellence Award – Heidi Sam
Certificated Excellence Award – Chris Werner
Heidi and Chris exemplify dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to student success. Through their daily efforts, they make a lasting impact—supporting students, uplifting colleagues, and strengthening our schools and community.
Their passion for education and service goes far beyond expectations. Whether working behind the scenes or directly in the classroom, they lead with integrity, kindness, and a true heart for making a difference.
We were also proud to celebrate alongside educators and staff from across the region at a wonderful event in Pateros, honoring all Okanogan County Excellence Award winners. It was an inspiring evening filled with recognition, gratitude, and celebration of the incredible people who make a difference in our schools every day.
Please join us in congratulating Heidi Sam and Chris Werner on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud to have you as part of the Omak family!
