Pioneer Pride Alert!
Pioneer sports fans, get ready to cheer! This past weekend, our talented cross-country runners battled it out at the district meet in Yakima and came away with five state qualifiers! Competing on the intense Apple Ridge course — a tough 3-mile stretch of grass and packed dirt with rolling hills — our Pioneers faced off against 13 other teams for their chance to shine at the state championships in Pasco next weekend.
Girls' Team Highlights: Our Lady Pioneers put on an incredible performance with Syreni Sandoval (22nd), Ruby Freese (30th), and Sage Buhrig (31st) leading the way to earn their places at state!
Ruby Freese stole the spotlight, running her fastest race of the season by 48 seconds with a time of 21:31! Not only did she qualify for her first-ever state championship as a freshman, but she also became the 4th freshman girl to qualify under Coach's leadership. Ruby showed true Pioneer grit!
Syreni Sandoval capped her high school XC career with a personal best time of 20:44 — a strong finish that secured her second trip to state. Way to go, Syreni!
Sage Buhrig earned her third trip to state, finishing just a step behind Ruby at 21:32, only 8 seconds off her PR on a challenging course. Now that’s consistency and determination!
Boys' Team Highlights: Our Men Pioneers showed impressive perseverance with William Boers (17th) and Trenton Werner (38th) making their way to the state meet!
Trenton Werner ran his heart out, clocking in his best time of the season at 17:52! Though initially just outside the top 35, Trenton’s grit and determination paid off as he qualified under district protection, creating a thrilling moment of triumph.
Caden Arnold closed his season strong with a personal best of 18:07, finishing the season on a high note. Great job, Caden!
William Boers also qualified for his first state meet after an incredible season debut in XC, finishing just 10 seconds shy of his PR on a tough course. Amazing effort, William!
Now, it's time to rally behind our five fantastic qualifiers as they head to Pasco this weekend for the State Championship! Let’s cheer on Syreni, Ruby, Sage, William, and Trenton as they represent Pioneer pride on the big stage.

No School, Veterans Day, Monday, Nov 11th.

A fire truck responded to Omak middle school this afternoon at about 2:15. A Chromebook, see picture, spontaneously caught on fire in the classroom. It burned the desk a little bit, but they were able to get the Chromebook and the desk outside without any damage to the building. No students were injured.
