PLANS TO RESUME IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 18TH

January 14, 2022

We are experiencing a surge of the Omicron COVID variant across the state of Washington.  In spite of the Omak School District’s continued adherence to the many strategies designed to minimize the spread of the virus, we have continued to identify more positive cases in staff and students. We anticipate the number of positive cases will continue to grow.

In spite of this new challenge, Omak School District has every intention of keeping our schools open for in-person instruction.  The Omak School District staff understand the benefit of face-to-face learning and want to see our students in school every day.  Unfortunately, with over 40 COVID-related staff absences today, we were forced to switch to remote learning.  Our plan is to resume regular in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.   Please be prepared for the possibility of switching back to remote learning over the next few weeks, as our COVID situation is fluid.

Thank you for partnering with the Omak School District in the education of your children!

Sincerely,

Michael Porter

Omak School District Superintendent
