Mentoring Program Overview
The Omak School District’s Mentoring Program was created to invest in new teachers as part of an overall school improvement strategy. Providing on-going support to new teachers is an integral part of the Mentoring Program. The District believes that supported teachers ensure successful students.
Teachers new to the profession and veteran teachers new to the Omak School District are automatically placed in our Mentoring Program. This program focuses on familiarizing new teachers to their teaching assignment, our community, our district, content standards, and our adopted instructional framework (Marzano). Veteran teachers mentor new teaching staff for two years, providing encouragement and guidance throughout the program. The Mentoring Program is another example of how Omak School District provides professional development for our teachers.
